3rd CIHEAM MAICh Alumni Gathering
On the 27th of July 2023, 100 former students of the CIHEAM Institute of Chania from 30 countries gathered for a third ALUMNI Gathering.
Representatives from the very first years of MAICh's establishment participated with their families, partners and parents. We feel honoured to meet them, discuss with them and find out that the years spend with us equipped them with the right skills to achieve their goals.
This time the meeting focused on “CIHEAM-The Mediterranean Crossroad to Youth Empowerment”.
Welcome addresses were given by Dr. George Baourakis, Director of CIHEAM Chania, Professors, the Studies Coordinators of the Master of Science Programmes of CIHEAM MAICh, and MAICh student council representatives. Prof. Andy Mavromoustakos, University of Arkansas-Agric. Stat. Lab and Prof. Argyro Avgoustaki Head of Research, ESCP Business School provided valuable insights into different aspects of education and personal growth through their presentations. An Introduction to the CIHEAM Youth Working Group was given by Mr. George Angelakis, CIHEAM MAICh Researcher and representative of the Youth Working Group.
The meeting ended with on-site Nominations for the CIHEAM MAICh Alumni Presidency which is the first step in forming an alumni association, to strengthen the bonds and create a vibrant network. Mr. Abdeldjelil Bemmerzouk, an Alumni that attended the department of Renewable Natural Resources during the years 1993-1997 was proposed and accepted to be the first CIHEAM MAICh Alumni President.
The evening concluded with a festive celebration.
Τhe previous 2 gatherings in 2015 and 2019 were held with great success. The next gathering will be held after 4 years, in the summer of 2027. 3rd CIHEAM MAICh Alumni Gathering "CIHEAM-The Mediterranean Crossroad to Youth Empowerment" CIHEAM.
