The CIHEAM Chania Library was established in 1985 and expanded in 1992.

The Library's mission is to provide comprehensive resources and services in support of the research, teaching, and learning needs of CIHEAM Chania students, researchers and staff. It is open to the general public as well.

Library’s collections consist of books, print journal titles, reference works and e-resources, focusing on the business economics and management, food quality and chemistry of natural products, geoinformation in environmental management, horticultural genetics and biotechnology and the sustainable agriculture.

The Library uses the Library of Congress Subject Headings to subject indexing its catalog and Dewey Classification System to classify its books.

The Library uses the online library system ADVANCE Elidoc, that provides cataloging, serials, and circulation modules. The online catalogue can be accessed with any web browser, either on or off campus.

The Library cooperates with other CIHEAM member institutes: MAI Montpellier, MAI Bari, MAI Zaragoza and it is a member of the Journals Union Catalogue by the National Documentation Centre.
