Dr. Mathioudakis was born at Chania in 1982. He graduated second from the School of Agriculture, Crop Protection department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1999-2004). He carried out his Master of Science (MSc) degree on Plant Pathology, [School of Agriculture, Crop Protection Department, of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) (2004-2006)], with specialization on Plant Virology to characterize the aetiology of Quince fruit deformation disease. During his PhD on Molecular Plant Virology (2009-2012) (AUTh in collaboration with MAICh) he conducted research on host factor-virus interactions and their roles in virus replication, gene silencing, and the suppression of RNA silencing in Pepino mosaic virus, in its host tomato. Currently (2013 to date) he is employed as a post-doctoral researcher at MAICh (Department of Sustainable Agriculture, Plant Virology Laboratory), participating in several EU and national projects. He has been an invited referee in 3 scientific articles (Molecular Plant Pathology, Plant Disease) and invited Lecturer of the Master program course “Detection and Epidemiology of Plant Virus Diseases”, Sustainable Agriculture Department, MAICh (In English). He has 10 published articles on plant virology in scientific journals (H index: 4; IF ~ 22; citations ~ 70) and 1 in Greek scientific journal, 3 participations at International Conferences and 14 participations at national conferences.
