A tour of the walled town of Chania was conducted by the English Professor of MAICh Ms Maria Verivaki for MAICh students, with transport and some food costs arranged by the Institute. In total, 58 students attended the event. The walk focused on the walls of the town: their historical function in past times, and their modern significance in the present given the current global political climate, with new walls being erected between borders, and other barriers being placed on the movement of people. The walk, which lasted two hours, started at the Agora in the town centre and finished at the Archaeological Museum of Chania. At the end of the tour, the students snacked on a traditional Greek souvlaki.
