Dr. Ioannis Livieratos
Dr. Ioannis Livieratos

Born in 1967, he studied (BSc/MSc) Agriculture in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He obtained an MSc degree on crop protection at Wageningen Agriculture University (1994) and during his PhD he characterized the emerging whitefly-transmitted Cucurbit yellow stunting disorder virus at the Imperial College (1999). He subsequently served for 4 years as a post-doctoral scientist in UCDavis and Imperial College working on criniviruses and viroids. Since 2005, he serves MAICh as studies & research coordinator at the Department of Sustainable Agriculture and during the last 10 years he participated in more than 16 national and EU-funded projects. In particular over the last 8 years, his lab has been responsible carrying out annual surveys for the identification and reporting on the quarantine pathogen Citrus tristeza virus. His basic research line focuses on Molecular Diagnostics of Plant Pathogens (e.g. CTV), Host-Pathogens Interactions and Virus Replication. He currently is a member of the Editorial Board of the journal of Molecular Plant Pathology. He has authored 25 articles on (Molecular) Plant Pathology (H index: 12; IF ~ 58; citations ~400).

Mr. Aristidis Stamatakis
Mr. Aristidis Stamatakis

Born in 1975, he studied Agriculture (horticulture science) in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and followed a postgraduate specialization course on horrticulture science at MAICh. He carried out an MSc thesis on hydroponics, while at the same time he was working in the soil science laboratory as a technical assistant. Following graduation (2002), he was employed as a technical supporter at the agrochemical and fertilizer company Farma-Chem (2004-2008). In 2008 he joined the Department of Sustainable Agriculture and he is responsible for the Laboratory of Soil Science & Plant Diagnostics, greenhouses and hydroponics system. Currently, he is a Ph.D candidate in Cyprus University of Technology with the subject “Impact of mycorrhiza and silicon in hydroponically grown tomatoes under salinity”. His basic research interests are in plant nutrition, soil chemistry and hydroponics. He has participated in various research programs in collaboration with academic and institutional researchers, he has published 2 scientific papers and participated in several national and international congresses.

Dr. Mathioudakis was born at Chania in 1982. He graduated second from the School of Agriculture, Crop Protection department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1999-2004). He carried out his Master of Science (MSc) degree on Plant Pathology, [School of Agriculture, Crop Protection Department, of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) (2004-2006)], with specialization on Plant Virology to characterize the aetiology of Quince fruit deformation disease. During his PhD on Molecular Plant Virology (2009-2012) (AUTh in collaboration with MAICh) he conducted research on host factor-virus interactions and their roles in virus replication, gene silencing, and the suppression of RNA silencing in Pepino mosaic virus, in its host tomato. Currently (2013 to date) he is employed as a post-doctoral researcher at MAICh (Department of Sustainable Agriculture, Plant Virology Laboratory), participating in several EU and national projects. He has been an invited referee in 3 scientific articles (Molecular Plant Pathology, Plant Disease) and invited Lecturer of the Master program course “Detection and Epidemiology of Plant Virus Diseases”, Sustainable Agriculture Department, MAICh (In English). He has 10 published articles on plant virology in scientific journals (H index: 4; IF ~ 22; citations ~ 70) and 1 in Greek scientific journal, 3 participations at International Conferences and 14 participations at national conferences.
